Genre
This is one of the first magazines that I will be looking at to help me get ideas for my own magazine.
The main thing that I have noticed is that on a music magazine is that when a band is on a front cover, the lead singer is at the front of all the pictures, even in the smaller pictures, the lead is at the front of them.
The majority of rock bands are mainly all males, apart from a few successful bands who have females in them. The main bands are all males, so with them on the front and with the singer at the front of the other members, you can tell at a quick glance that this is a rock magazine

The attitudes that they have is a calm feeling, but that is just because Foo Fighters are general calm people. But most times some bands are quite angry and quite in your face. They are wearing quite simple clothes, just plain clothing nothing too fancy, they wear dark and simple clothing.
The audience that it is a rock type audience people who like rock/metal music. You can tell cause everything is in like black, white and red.
Layout
Layout
The heads of the members are covering the title of the magazine, to show more of a ruff type of look to it. The colours that are used are bright and simple, when base colours of black and white are being used, they are being countered by the use of yellow and red over them to make the text stand out on the cover. To show the ruff style of the magazine again, the images in the bottom left are not all the same size, facing the same way as each other, they are kind of just all put together.
Representation
The way that they are all stood, they are close together to show there feelings as a band. Also they just look calm and chilled to show they are used to doing things like this all the time and it isn't a big deal. Also this again shows the feeling that they don't really care whats going on, non of the band members have like hair all neat and make up on, they have just shown up and took the picture as they are.
Media Language
There is a lot of medium close ups being used, also there is a close up on a person in the bottom right corner. The background of the image for this is a plain red background so there is full concentration on the image. The reason they have used a medium close up for the main image is to show the togetherness of the band, they are all side by side in a small space but yet they look comfortable. Everyone's faces are all together and close to each other, to show how close they are all the time as a band.
