This is a update on what my magazine and contents page now looks like.

During the last session, I made a start on writing my double page story and made a little bit of a change to my front cover.

 This double page spread, this picture that was took was took in an area of woodland.  I liked the way that this double page spread looked with all of the nature around it. So this has helped me decide an area that I will shoot my double page spread picture in. 
In Hyde park if you go into the woods there, I will be able to find a place where I can shoot a similar picture. 

The background of this picture has a brick wall in the background of it.  After looking at this cover and getting lots of different ideas from it, I took one more from it and I am shooting my main image with a brick wall in the background of it.

This is a part of Hyde Park, This is not the area that I will be taking all of my images, but the band stand is a place that I could possible take a few pictures for my magazine.  Just by looking at the surrounding area, you can see that the place is filled with trees and down to the right there is a forest with a stream, that could be a possible area to take some images.

Research and Planning: Plan for the week

This is what I need to do this week.
-Find a potential area to take my front cover picture for my magazine.  Due to me wanting no background on the background of the front cover of the magazine.
-Identify the model or models who are going to be on the cover of my magazine.  

Research and Planning: Model Head Shots

This person will not be suited for my magazine because he doesn't suit the style of the magazine that I am making, he doesn't look anything like someone who would enjoy rock music.

Carl will be someone I use with my magazine due to him being able to look like he will suit different types of magazines, so I will be using him on my magazine.

Wes doesn't look like the style that I will making, he looks like he enjoys more RnB instead of rock.

Luke is the main model for my magazine. He has the rock look to him with the hair and the facial expression.  He will be the main person on my magazine. 

I will be using Joe for one of the images on my magazine.  He has the laid back look that you see in a lot of different rock magazines, so he will look good in my magazine. 

These are some more tests shots that I did as research for my music magazines.  By doing this I am looking at different people and style who would look the right genre for use in my magazine.

Research and Planning: Location Recces Ideas

Hyde Park

This would be a good location for a rock magazine, the area is wide open space with a lot of trees in the background, the SLR cameras in my opinion take the best pictures when they are out doors so I want to take advantage of this.  Also there is some unique scenery around there so I can take some good pictures.

Manor Park is a good location to take some pictures again, because just like Hyde park, there is a lot of open space to take some long shots of people.  With the SLR cameras, I will be able to blur at the background and have a good quality image for my magazine.

-Post a location recce and risk assessment onto blogger
-Take pictures of potential models and post them on to blogger

Research and Planning: SLR Test shots

These are some of the test shots that I have took with the SLR. 
This was the first time that I have used that the SLR so I was still getting used to the different effects and the way that the camera works.
I tried to get different shots like medium close ups and some long shots.
Also I went outside to test the different lighting and the way that it would work from going from indoor lighting to going out doors. 
I have noticed the different quality of the pictures from my college magazine to these ones, they are a lot clearer than the college ones.
I will be using the SLR for my music magazine due to the quality of the images that it produces.
Due to me still getting used to the camera, some of the images are a little bit burly, this will be something that I will have to remember when I am doing my Music magazine pictures.
I like the outside shots that I have done more, the SLR has burled the background so all the focus is on the person that you are taking the picture of.  The Inside photos don't look as good as the outside ones.

Research and Planning: Draft with Audience Feedback

After getting the feedback of the potential customers, I have re done my draft taking in the information that I have being given from the interviews. 
At the top of the page, I have a banner to try and attract people by offering them something for free like a CD or posters, this is something Kerrang do on every issue. 
The mast head is centered to catch peoples attention, cause when people look at a magazine cover, the main point they will look at first is the masthead to see what magazine it is.  So by putting in the centre, people will be able to look and see what it is called.
A lot people when I did my interviews said that when I asked what colour scam they thought of when they Heard the word Rock?  A lot of people said the colours they thought of were black, red and yellow, so I took that into consideration and have got all 3 of them colours on my page. 
In the centre of the page I have got the outline of a possible shot that I can do for my front cover, but this isn't a definite shot that I am going to be using.  I still am deciding on if I am going to one person on the front or a group photo.
I have done my contents page and double page spread like that because when I did my interviews a lot people said to have colours like yellow, red and black.   I have kept to the colours that they have said would look the best for my magazines. 

Research and Planning: Genre : Artists

In the list below, there will be some artists that I will be looking at for some inspiration of what to put in my magazine including colours, shot types, clothing and Mise-en-Scene.

They have used a lot of props on this image to give the effect that the image has being took while they were playing in the middle of a concert, you can tell this by the use of there props.

They have used a plain background on this. Its simple and gets all the concentration of the members of the band and not the background.

They have changed the colour contrast to black and white. This goes well with the notion of dark colours being used for rock/metal music.

This week I will be trying to complete:

-Also I will need to find some models that have the right look for the style of the magazine that I am doing.

Research and Planning: Costume and Props List

Costumes:
Dark simple clothing













Some bright colored clothing clothing colours like (Bright Green, Pink, Red)
Belts
Just clothing that is simple but looks like stereotypical "Rock" type person.
Shops like new look, bank, River island, Top man and other shops like that sell clothing like this, but most people own clothing that are similar to the ones that are on here, so getting the clothing won't be a problem for me.

The use of instruments in the background gives the image of people being in a band.

A lot of younger people who listen to music like having posters of there favorite musicians on there walls, so I could maybe find someones room with the walls covered in posters.

Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Analysis

Genre

The genre of music that this is layout for is a rock / metal, the double page is a review of a massive concert featuring some of rock and metal biggest bands. The pictures used, the background of all the pictures are all colored but all the colours are dark, showing it being different to most colours, which is a lot of what people who enjoy this music think about them, they are different to everyone else.

Target audience

The target for this double page is for the rock metal audience, the images are quite aggressive and in your face, which is what metal represents.  The audience that this is targeted for is young adults, due to the older aged people don't really like this style of music, due to how loud and fast it is, young adults when going to concerts have the energy to be doing things like "mosh pits" at these types of concerts.  The people who like this style of music are shown in the image with all the younger people pushed up against the barrier enjoying the music, even though they are being squashed. Also there isn't a gender to the people who like this music, both males and females are shown in this double page, showing that every type of person likes this style of music. 

Layout

The layout that is used is classic Kerrang style, all down the left hand side of the page is the main body of the text, at the top of it has the name of the main band that is being reviewed, also they use there "K rating" which the more K's there is, the better that they thought the gig was, it is something that some one who just wants a quick look at how the gig was, they can look at the rating and understand what it means due to the key being above the rating to avoid confusion. The center of the page, going towards the end of the right and side is all pictures, there is one main image of the lead signer of Avenged Sevenfold, with images of the band all around the main image. Also some of the other highlights from the gig are shown with some of the images around the main images as well. 

Representation
The emotions that are shown is is a mix of calmness and angry and happiness, some of the images are medium close ups so they are showing the emotion as much as they can by it being right up in your face, but then some of the images when M Shadows (the lead signer) is with a member of Bullet for my valentine (other band), he has his arm around him and they are both smiling and are happy to see each other. So just from looking at the images you can see what the feelings between the people are just by looking by the expressions on there face.
Some of the clothes that they are wearing are really simple colours like black, also M Shadows(lead singer) has ripped the sleeves of his shirt, this isn't normal so again this is showing individuality.

Media Language
There are a lot of medium close ups used, also there is a long shot of the crowed to show the amount of people that have all come to see the band the like.  The lighting that is used is dark and is mainly all back lighted, so it is very bright when it needs to be for the crowd.  All most all the images that are used, some one has an instrument in there hands. I have taken note for this when I am taking pictures for my magazine, to get some images of people with props to make it look as close to a professional magazine as possible. The medium close ups are used to to show what the members of the band are doing with the instruments.
